Name~ Melanie Thompson Year~ 6th House~ Ravenclaw Ability~ Air Elemental Reason why I should give this to you~ Melanie has always wanted this ability. She wouldn't abuse her power. She would use it in times when her wand is taken away from her in battle. Sometimes she'll use it to get back at a Slytherin or another student, but only when she feels it is necessary. She would never hurt another student with this power, but she would teach them a lesson if they did something they shouldn't have that a teacher did not see.
RP Example ::required::~ Melanie looked over at the group of Slytherins. They were tormenting a scared first year. The young Gryffindor girl ran away crying, and the Slytherins laughed. Melanie flicked her wrist slightly, sending a gust of wind at the group of Slytherins. They fell to the ground, almost like bowling pins. She hoped that would keep them from tormenting a younger student for a while, but if it didn't, then she would be able to find them again.
ACCEPTED!!

Name~ Lienna Murrieta Year~ 6th House~ Gryffindor Ability~ Animagus ((Cardinal.)) Reason why I should give this to you~ Lienna enjoys freedom, and exploring. Her entire childhood was nonstop adventure, and Lienna would not have had it any other way. Lienna has often imagined herself flying, soaring high above the clouds. Birds, sure, they fly, but so do wizards on brooms. But the wings, the air currents, the actual flying, holding yourself up in the air..brooms can't do that. Meaning in life..who has any of that, any more? Lienna does, and it is thus: adventure.
RP Example ::required::~ Lienna, thoroughly excited, tried hard to keep from jumping up and down. She was standing in a clearing, probably somewhere in the Forbidden Forest. How she knew she was there, or that she was excited, she didn't know. Some rustling in the bushes startled Lienna beyond relief, and the Lienna here in the clearing did not expect it. "Hello, Lienna," a voice called. Lienna backed away. "Oh, now, don't do that," the voice said. "Come closer." When Lienna stepped back further, the voice cursed. "Imperio!" It called, producing a cry from Lienna as she fell to her knees. "Stand up," the voice commanded, and Lienna did. The imperius curse dragged Lienna to the edge of the clearing, but Lienna still couldn't see who this mystery wizard was. Then, Lienna bolted awake; she'd been dreaming. She stretched her arms..no, they were wings! Lienna looked down at her body, which was the body of a small, red bird. If she hadn't been confused before, she felt her mind turning to mush now.

Post by Kyle Cortez on Jun 1, 2007 14:36:57 GMT -5
Name: Kyle Cortez
Year: 6
House: Ravenclaw
Ability: Pyrokinesis and Cyrokinesis (Im not sure what is meant by 'Fire Elemental and Water Elemental' as according to scripture 'Elementals' are beings in themselves, and Kyle is quite human. Pyrokinesis is however the magical, kenetic control of fire, and Cyrokinesis the kenetic power over ice, or water. Aerokinesis for wind and Tetrakinesis for Earth...)
Animal Communication: Yes, I know it is not on the list, but please read the roleplay example #2 and the reasoning for it before passing judgement. If it is still unacceptable, I understand.
Reason why I should give this to you: I have been roleplaying upwards of ten years now, and have a full arsenal of twenty-two characters, all of which I spent a lot of time creating. Some are not for online use, such as my Werewolf the Apocolypse characters, but all have very long backgrounds and a great history of fun. Kyle is about four years old now, created as an added stresser and development for my main character Jaladar Cortez Kyle is actually a werewolf, but for the sake of HP I generally boot that out of his history. As long as he's been played, he has had the powers over ice and fire and the ability to speak with animals. The rp sample is taken from two seperate scenes. One from when he was first introduced as a character, only five years old and far from in control of his powers, the other part as him about a year ago dealing with a pesky annoyance, a cousin named Craven.
RP Example ::required::
Kyle sat in a corner trembling. For the past two days things had been very scary and confusing. Master Maguar’s centaurs had been watching him again, but he had snuck away. They noticed too quickly and started to chase him through the woods. Kyle was very fast for a five year old, and was smaller than the five big horse-men. He would have gotten away if the woods hadn’t ended. He ran as fast as he could through the meadow, but the centaurs circled him. They were on their back hooves, ready to punish him, and he had cowered. It was then that a voice broke through. It was deep and clear, and the centaurs turned to face it. A man he had never seen before, with long black hair and brown skin was glaring at the evil horse boys. Kyle didn’t think the man said anything at all, but for some reason they turned and left. Confused, Kyle looked past the man, and saw something lying by a tree. Squinting, he could see it was a body. Wondering who would be sleeping during the hottest part of the day, Kyle clambered to his feet and began to waddle over. The man made a noise in his throat, and said, ”I wouldn’t go there. Who are you boy?” Kyle, ignoring him, kept going for a few steps, and stopped. The body wasn’t sleeping. It was dead, and it had no head. Kyle frowned, and searched around. Finding a circular blob about four feet from the body, but closer to him than anything else, Kyle morbidly went towards it, something inside him telling him he had to see this. It was Master Maguar’s head.
Kyle had giggled. He remembered it vividly. He had giggled when he saw the head. Master Maguar was dead, dead, dead, and without a head. Something in the little boy snapped, and he ran to the body and kicked it. This small act of defiance, to abuse Master Maguar, and his belt and his knives and his evil, brought on the onslaught of sadness and anger inside him, and he began to pound on the dead body. He remembered doing this, and then being lifted into the air, still punching and screaming. A soft voice spoke, calming him, and soon he found himself being held in a way he had never been held before. The strange man had his arms around him, and was stroking his hair. It felt nice, and Kyle remembered he had fallen asleep. He then woke up in a strange place in a big soft bed. It had to be a strange place if he was in a bed instead of a closet. Scrambling up, Kyle opened the door to the room cautiously and stuck his head out. ”Ah. So you’re awake.” Said a voice, making Kyle ‘eep’ and try to close the door. A hand stopped him, and the strange man knelt and looked into his face. ”Did you sleep well?” he had asked in a strange, soft way. Kyle nodded meekly, and the man nodded and said ”That’s good.” then took his hand and took him to a huge dining room where a woman and a girl were eating dinner. The woman told him to join and the man nodded. Kyle remembered being allowed to eat until he was stuffed. When he was done, the woman smiled at him and asked if it had been good. He told her it had. The man leaned forward and asked his name. “Kyle Tavean Maguarsson” responded the five year old promptly, before editing, “But now that Maguar’s deaders, I don’t have to be his son no more, right?” The child hadn’t noticed the odd looks about his name, which he knew meant unwanted son of Maguar, but he sure noticed the girl laughing. “What’s so funny?” he asked. ”You can’t change your dad just cuz he’s dead silly. He’s your dad forever!” Kyle stared in horror. “Nuh uh! You’re lying!” he cried, terrified that this meant he was going to be beaten terribly for what he did to the body. The girl went to speak, but the man stopped her. ”I am Jaladar Cortez, Kyle. This is my wife, Astrael, and my daughter, Tiara. For right now, you’ll be living with us until things clear up.” Kyle stared. “But you aren’t centaurs.” Kyle stated matter of factually. The three people stared blankly at him, and the girl asked what he meant. “When Master Maguar is away, I stay with centaurs, not people.” The man made a spluttering noise. ”Master?? he said oddly. Kyle nodded frankly, as serious as any five year old could be. “Yessum. I am never permitted to call him father, as it is degrading o his status. I am a devil child and make him look bad.” He said in the way five year olds do when they are repeating something an adult has said over and over again. “If I stay with people, then people know I exist, and that’s bad.” Kyle finished. The man stood and banged his hands on the table. ”That miserable bastard! he barked, the way Master Maguar did when he was really angry. ”If I had any notion that he had a child….DAMN! Men like him ought not be permitted to breed for the blood of the Gods! This is absolutely insane! I will not stand for this, I will not. Boy!” Kyle flinched, because he knew this was coming. ”Do you know what degrading means?” Kyle blinked. “Nuh uh.” He said, wondering where the belt would come in. The man huffed and the woman spoke, her voice light and unangered. ”Dear, calm yourself. You’re frightening the poor dear. Why, I wouldn’t be surprised if Maguar beat him.” The man made an odd, jerk-like movement, where his whole upper body twitched. He looked straight at Kyle, and asked if he had. Kyle nodded. “Yessum! One smack before breakfast to wake me up, a good beaten after my chores to remind me how bad I is, another smack when he’s bored, and a good beaten afore bed. Plus the ones I get if something goes wrong.”
Kyle remembered that the mans eyes did a strange thing, and turned black. He then turned to the woman and told her he was getting the papers signed NOW, which meant nothing to Kyle, and vanished. “The Master could do that popping in an out trick too…” he said with mild interest. The girl was staring at him. “What?” ”How could you say that so calmly? That’s…that’s so terrible!” she looked about to cry, which scared him. He’d never been good with females, they were always crying. Stupid girls. He never cried. Not till the salt came. He was tough. Why was she crying? Arms went around him and the lady was holding him. ”Kyle, you will never, ever be beaten here, do you understand? We’re your family now. You’re safe here.” He looked at her. “Family?” she nodded. He was silent, then he pointed a chubby child finger at her, almost touching her nose. “Mommy?” She smiled. ”Yes.” He grinned, and wrapped his arms around her happily. “YAY!” Then he suddenly pulled away. “But…Master Maguar might not like it…” She frowned. ”I don’t care. He’s dead, and he’ll stay that way. You are my child now, and no Master anybody is going to hurt you. No one here is your Master. Everyone is family. Tiara, your sister, I, your mother, Jaladar, your father. And we will love you and cherish you and protect you. Ok?” Confused, Kyle said, “But Tiara said you can’t switch your father.” His new mother told him that Tiara was wrong, and he found himself so happy that he fell asleep again. When he woke up, he was in the big bed again, and the lady was stroking his hair. But she was Mommy now, so he smiled and greeted her. She smiled back. ”Jaladar needs to take you to a meeting so that we can adopt you. Don’t be scared, you’ll be fine. Its just important people in the family who are a little … more serious than us. They need to make sure everything is ok.” Kyle nodded, and followed her. Now he sat in a corner watching Jaladar talk to twelve very scary looking adults.
”We cannot possibly permit this Jaladar. I understand that you pity him, but taking him in is just to much. Place him in an orphanage if you MUST let him live.” said one large, fat man with grisly hair.
”Don’ be a fool Montres. This boy…this THING is the son of Maguar Kinslayer! We cannot possibly let it live. I say we kill it now and forget all about it.” responded a small, very thin man with a bald head. Kyle didn’t know what they were talking about, but it sounded bad for him. Jaladar spoke like he was talking to someone really stupid, and Kyle could swear he was sneering.
”Thing? You imply that the child is a monster simply because of its bloodline? Are you dense? That’s like saying that is my last name was DeColan, I am not a good man. Yet as you know, I am a good man. You judge without knowledge and without thought. The boy is barely even six. How can you claim he will be anything like Maguar without giving him the chance to grow up? If he is raised by good people he will be a good person. How a child turns out has nothing to do with its blood and everything to do with its environment. By saying you expect this child to grow to be just like Maguar, you are implying that I, Jaladar Cortez, am an evil man unable to raise a child.” Jaladar crossed his arms. The thin man and the fat man looked at each other and nodded. They sat down. Two other adults stepped forward and began to say many mean things about what Jaladar said and about Kyle. Two others joined them, and soon all the adults had surrounded Jaladar and the seated men and were saying all sorts of things like ‘Stupid’ and ‘Kill it’ and the adoption word came up lots, but when a new word Kyle had never heard before was said, Jaladar got very angry, and started to yell at everyone.
”Euthanasia?! Are you insane? Are you positively brainless? I cannot believe the idiocy and incompetence I am surrounded with! This is a five year old little boy we are talking about -“ Jaladar went on, but Kyle wasn’t listening, he was covering his ears and rocking back and forth in his corner. He was scared. The adults wanted to beat him, even kill him, and Jaladar’s voice was scary. His body felt really hot, and it made him more upset, even angry. Then his body went really cold and he became confused and started to cry. His tears felt weird, cold, and he heard loud screaming, like someone in a lot of pain, but he didn’t care to see who it was. His body was burning up and the air was very cold. The next thing he knew, he was surrounded in blackness and had fallen to a heap on the floor.
----Jaladar’s P.O.V. ----
Jaladar stood and listened to them babble on at him about killing Kyle and how adoption was impossible. He had convinced the only two advisors to the throne he respected, and these idiots were nothing more than annoying insects. They could not stop him, all they could do was attempt to convince him not to fire them, after this was over. Then Gresslich made him snap by saying that killing Kyle would be like euthanasia. As he was reaming the advisors out, he noticed the temperature rise and fall from hot to cold rapidly, and paused. As he did, a bloodcurdling scream came from the corner as little Kyle’s body became covered in flames. All men stood frozen as the fire consumed the boys clothes and sta rted to pinken his flesh before trning into solid ice and exploding. The child passed out, breaking the spell. Jaladar ran forward, Montres and DuClaire behind him, and wrapped his arms around the child. “A pyro! With cyrokinesis as well!” Montres said in admiration, his fat face gleaming with happiness. The sight of another cyro, so rare, made him forget ever suggesting the boy ought to die. “Such an odd, yet powerful combination. He will need to be monitored by those who understand the ways. An orphanage is out of the question. Jaladar shall raise the child.” Montres said, as though someone else had made the orphanage suggestion. DuClaire removed his cape to cover the child, and murmured to Jaladar that he would disperse of the others. Jaladar, knowing full well the other Vampire was the most respected among the advisors, thanked him, and apparated home. Kyle was a pyrokinetic and a cyrokinetic, and both energies had just come out at once. The pyro would have destroyed him, as fire tends not to like being controlled. Luckily his other power saved him. Jaladar knew he would have to teach the boy a lot about control, in order to avoid being consumed.
Yes, I know that was very long, but it introduces a bit of his past, and it also shows how dangerous his powers are without proper instruction. The following clip is from another rp and is a bit shorter. It shows how the gifts are used in an entertaining and controlled manner. There are two players in this, Craven and Kyle.
Example # 2
Kyle sighed. The lady at the information desk directed him to Sylph Tower, and assigned him to room 17, roomate to one Kasuil Deltome, apparently a great-grandson son of the founder of his new school, Beauxbatons. Arriving in the room he looked about, but no-one was there. Quickly, he threw his bag on his bed and ran back outside, to the decrepit stables where Inuki sat tied and bored. Untying the wolf, Kyle took the leash and led him back to the dorm room. Inuki contentedly began sniffing about as Kyle unpacked his sparse belongings. The school provided a uniform, thus he packed a limited amount of clothing. The majority of his bag consisted of books, a laptop, and a small jade cat that had been given to him by his littlest sister, the deceased Lily. Placing the last two items on his bedside table, he knelt in the middle of the floor, scratching the large wolf behind the ears. Just then a shadow crossed the door, and there, with his arms crossed and his usual sneer, was his cousin Craven. "Well well well, looks like the cats been busy. And boy what a mess its dragged in today."
Kyle stiffened automatically and he twitched. Inuki moved to block Kyle from the shadow in the doorway, and the boy stood, keeping a hand on his wolf's back. "Back boy." he murmured, eyeing Craven with no small dislike. The hand not on the wolf spasmed in automatic recollection of the time it had been frozen, this chest closing, remembering the Ice Blade that had peirced and almost killed him whilst Craven, the only other Cyrokinetic he knew aside from his mentor, had looked on mildly. "What do you want, Craven?" he growled, Inuki's ears flattening and teeth baring slightly in angry defence. "Mind your manners Kryle. I suggest you remember that, lest I be forced to remind you of why politeness is so covetted in our society." Sneered the older boy, grey eyes flashing. Why it was Craven despised Kyle so much was still uncertain even to him. All he knew is that Kyle was pathetic, and thus worthy of nothing more than ridcule and scorn, two things he was never short of. His lip curled at the whipped mongrel and its angry beast. "Go home, vampire pets. You aren't wanted here."
Kyle felt as though he had been sucker punched. Vampire pets? No. He and Inuki weren't pets, they were family. Jaladar and the others loved them, they were not pets. The younger boys fist clenched, and the wolf growled. Thats it, this punk is crow food. Inuki's eyes flashed, and he barked angrily, preparing to lunge forward. NO! Leave him Inuki, he's not worth it. All he can do is cause people pain. He just can't see that he's the one whose hurt. I still remember when he protected me from that murderer, Macnair. If it weren't for him, I would have followed Lily that day. He's not all bad. He's just become an ass, thats all. Kyle responded swiftly. Inuki glared, not agreeing, but sat down nonetheless. The conversation was about two or three minutes, involving growling and yipping, and so seeming somewhat awkward. Kyle looked at Craven -- calmly. "You should go now." He suggested, hand still firm on the large wolf's back.
---Craven's P.O.V.---
Craven watched as the wolf prepared to attack him, and waited. As expected, Kyle made a dog noise, and halted the wolf. The two growled for a bit, until Kyle returned to human sounds and told him to leave. Craven shrugged. "Im only here to tell you to watch yourself, Kryle. Get in my way, and not even that pup of yours will keep me from harming you." He paused. "You know Kryle, the sooner it gets through your thick skull that noone but your mutt even wants you alive, the better it will be for all of us. Who wants to be around you, really? You think your Dad loves you? You really are stupid. You're nothing more than another annoyance to him. Your real father raped your dad's cousin, you're nothing more than an unwanted bastard he's raising out of pity. Everyone who treats you nicely only does it because its expected of them. No one wants you, so why don't you just vanish?" With that, he spun on his heel and left.
---Back to Kyle's P.O.V.--- Cravens words stabbed at Kyle with every syllable. It was like having his darkest fears confirmed. Nevermind Inuki's furious growls that Craven was lying. Kyles own doubts held the same feelings. Nonetheless, he wasn't going to stand there and take this from Craven. If he did, school at Beauxbatons would be Hell as Craven repeatedly abused him because he could get away with it. If there was a time to make a stand, it was now. Lifting his hand, he flicked it, leaving an invisible trail of ice right in Craven's path. The boy promptly slid upon it and fell with a mighty impact to the ground. A furious yell reached the ears of the wolf and boy, and Craven shot a swift bolt of ice shards at Kyle, which were quickly melted. Then Kyle slammed the door. Keeping his hand on it, he heated the knob to an intense hieght, and there was a rattle as Craven attempted to open the door to pound him. A loud yell met their ears again, and the wolf and boy grinned at each other. Threats were yelled on the other end, before there was silence. Kyle made a whooping movement, then went to his bed. He had just declared war, and now was the best time to take a break.
---Two Weeks Later---
"CORTEZ! SHADOWSTAR! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" both boys looked up from the ground where they were in mid grapple. Breaking appart swiftly, each explained their side of the story to Professor Vale.
"Kryle started it sir. He melted the sculpture I made." Kyle snorted. "You mean the scultpure you made of Kasuil Deltome, Craven? Well, I apologize for saving a kid from a very cold and unpleasant death!" Craven flushed as the Professor's eyebrows raised. 'Oh please. He would have only gotten a bad case of frostbite before the sun melted him." At this point they began to bicker, in which the Professor stepped in and stopped them. He send them both to detention. Craven was in the trophy room, and Kyle was in the potions lab. Knowing Craven sucked at cleaning Muggle-style, he snuck into the trophy room before they were schedualed for detention and left scorch marks all over the trophies. Since only Craven knew he was a Pyrokinetic, there'd be no way to prove who had done it.
Yet karma came back at him when he arrived in the lab to find everything covered in dirt. "For blood's sake...stupid tetrakinesis...!" He barked, before setting down to work.
